*Note: many chromatin-bound proteins are not soluble in a low salt nuclear extract and fractionate to the pellet. Therefore, we recommend a High Salt / Sonication Protocol when preparing nuclear extracts for Western blot.
Immunogen
This antibody was raised against a peptide within the C-terminal region of human PAX6.
Buffer
Purified IgG in PBS with 30% glycerol and 0.035% sodium azide. Sodium azide is highly toxic.

Detection of PAX6 by Western blot. The analysis was performed using 30 µg HEK293 nuclear extract and PAX6 (pAb) at a 1:500 dilution.
Background
PAX6 (Paired Box 6) is a transcription factor with important functions in the development of the eye, nose, central nervous system and pancreas. Required for the differentiation of pancreatic islet alpha cells (By similarity). Competes with PAX4 in binding to a common element in the glucagon, insulin and somatostatin promoters. Regulates specification of the ventral neuron subtypes by establishing the correct progenitor domains (By similarity). Isoform 5a appears to function as a molecular switch that specifies target genes.
